POCKETS: Filling the first pocket; let’s make some art together!

Journal with me session

***The second prompt, which comes up organically during this process video, is answering the query what web(s) am I spinning right now? You can simply journal this out or write a letter to yourself. I hope my explanation and demonstration in this video has helped you to further understand the depth of this project. Most importantly, there are NO RULES!***

For more information on this series as well as how to make the journal, please see below.

Just a note, this video does get a little vulnerable so please be gentle with me as we travel this path together. Also keep in mind that I am NOT the best video creator. But I did my best and am happy with the art I made and this video.

This video series can be found here on Substack as well as on my YouTube. Throughout this series, we will make a pocket journal together out of recycled envelopes (see the first video where we make our journal here). As we work together through it, it will include prompts where we write letters to ourselves or simply journal, then review them to find words or themes to explore further. Then we will create corresponding journal tags and pullouts. At the end, all of the letters and ephemera and whatever else will be stuffed into each pocket so that the journal itself is bursting with our inner transformation and evidence of this alchemy we have performed. The prompts will invite you to explore the pockets within yourself that perhaps don’t get enough sunlight, and to share love to all of the parts of ourselves. I also invite you to stuff the pockets with any ephemera that feels significant throughout the journey. I will be pulled tarot cards at times to include in certain pockets. There will DEFINITELY be trash going in there, or mementos of my growth and evidence of life.

The first prompt was to write a letter or journal about exploring the environment you grew up in, or one that felt significant to you throughout your life.

A note: I am not a therapist. Please do not delve into any territory that feels too intimate or difficult. Seek help from a professional if that’s accessible to you before addressing any trauma alone.

May we all love each other better,

Rikki
