This adventure, should you choose to partake, will begin by mapping the terrain of your inner wilds. You can do this visually, or through the written word. We will create a place to come to again and again. We will enter the space through the Cave of Inner Knowing, and explore the foundations of this space. Next week, we will do a deep dive into building our avatar for this inner quest. It will be ever-changing and growing, there will always be more to explore. I will be sharing the main parts with everyone for free. Plus, there are side quests for paid subscribers, as well as some behind-the-scenes content or make-with-me videos.
Create a map of the terrain of your wild artist heart. This can be as explanatory or abstract as you wish. Include colors, shapes, textures. Whatever calls to you. Be sure to include a Cave of Inner Knowing.
Next, think of three important elements of creative practice. Give them plot points on your map. Give them fun names. There are no wrong answers. These can be elements you wish to work on or ones you wish to honor with gratitude.
Forests of Hope
Lake of Mindfulness
Mountain Pass of Grace
Fields of consistency
The image shows my personal map in my journal. It does not require fancy paper or supplies. It can also be scripted if doing this visually feels like too much. There is still space to explore because there will always be more. We stay open to change.
Design a symbol that represents this journey, this land. It will be your entry into the Cave of Inner Knowing. You will draw it, and enter this space. Use it throughout your practice, and life, as a touchstone of this magic we are cultivating.
You draw your symbol, and enter the Cave of Inner Knowing. You become entranced by the crystalline cave walls. What colors are they? What patterns are there? You place your hand to the wall, feeling the vibratory energy pulsing beneath. This crystal is the foundation of these lands. All the magic is build upon this stone. What dreams are held within this stone? What hopes are intertwined with them? When do you remember giving birth to these dreams? How did they originate? Were they cultivated by you, or planted by someone else? Are these dreams struggling to breathe, to grow? What is holding them in place and stopping their evolution? What poison is eating away at the beautiful crystal of your dreams?
Answer all of these questions in your journal in image or word form. Also notate what feelings and sensations arrive in your body. Search your Inner Knowing for a way to tend to the fears that come up. Do you simply need to build strength/courage to make the leap? Is it time to seek a mentor or teacher? What about visiting with your Inner Child? How can you help to shine the light that you are in this cave to illuminate your dreams?
That’s it! Drop a comment to share any part of the process that came up for you, and feel free to ask questions. Remember this is meant to be fun and engaging, and most importantly, you make the rules. Next week we will go in-depth for building our avatar for this journey.
Until next time,
Rikki
